Stage Studios is the independent Canon retail and rental business based in Pretoria, South Africa. Every body and every lens on our shelf is something our own shooters have either owned or put through a paying production.
Stage Studios has been serving South African creators since long before mirrorless was a safe bet. Over those years we kept ending up in the same conversation with clients and other working shooters: “Where should I actually buy my Canon?”
The honest answer for years was “it depends”. The big retailers carry everything, which means they know a little about a lot. The grey-import scene undercuts on price but the serial number doesn't carry a warranty. Canon specialists didn't really exist in SA.
Stage Studios is our answer. We sell only Canon so we can know Canon all the way through. We price every SKU to beat the best authorised dealer quote. We rent the gear that costs too much to own occasionally. And we've wired an AI advisor into the whole thing so asking “which R5 and which lens for a Kruger trip” gets you a real answer.
Four rules we don't break.
Depth beats breadth. We'd rather know everything about one system than almost-nothing about six.
No grey imports. Every serial number we ship is registered with Canon SA for warranty before it leaves the counter.
We match or beat any lower authorised dealer price in SA on the same SKU. No fine print. No ceremony.
Every recommendation traces back to a paid working shoot. If we haven't used it, we say so.
